Celebrating the GOTS family at new campus in Plaza Jelutong
Nothing epitomises the ‘family-ness’ of Global Oak Tree Scholars (GOTS) International School more than our coaches, who willingly gave up a part of their school holidays to transform our new pre-primary and primary campus in Plaza Jelutong, Shah Alam.
The coaches helped with the moving, painting, decorations, and cleaning of the sports arena, and pitched in to soundproof the music room.
It was a gesture that touched the heart of our co-founder, Dr Veronica Shepherdson.
“Before our term break, I asked the coaches if any of them were willing to help decorate the new campus.
“I honestly did not expect that all of them would come in, over the holidays, to make the campus a home,” said Dr Shepherdson.
“Most of you gave up more than a week, while others spent even longer sprucing up the place.
“The reaction from everyone who has seen the ‘new look’ campus, is one of wonderment. That was one of the reasons why we decided to present each of you with a certificate of appreciation.”
Dr Shepherdson said she thought long and hard to find the words to describe her coaches, and finally settled on: ‘Dependability, Responsibility, and Joyfulness’.
“Whenever we need help, I know I can depend on them to do a good, responsible job. And, the coaches do it joyfully, as the school is their home.”
Dr Shepherdson said the coaches walked the talk as GOTS International School always preaches four key lessons – grit, compassion, humility, and filial piety.
She added that the selflessness of the coaches would set an example for the scholars.
Separately, Dr Shepherdson revealed that Head of Curriculum, Rani Arul, has set up a library for the school. The English department will select librarians.
“We are also planning to start a school radio that will broadcast during the lunch break.
“One scholar will be the disc jockey for the day, while the others can request songs, or dedicate tunes, to anyone.
