Fun activities, workshops forge closer bond between scholars and families
Global Oak Tree Scholars (GOTS) International School’s second term begins on Thursday after a month-long break.
Although it was the holidays, there were plenty of “assignments” lined up for the scholars and their parents, too.
“With everyone feeling down due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and with most parents working from home, we decided to hold some competitions for our GOTS International School family,” said co-founder Veronica Shepherdson.
“We planned some workshops as well as competitions to keep everyone occupied.
“It was also a way for families to bond during these hard times.”
First up was ‘Family Dance Workshop’ on June 11, by coach Latisha Shepherdson.
Scholars and parents were taught basic hip-hop moves by Latisha, and they were then judged on their best ‘hip-hop fashion sense’.
A ‘Science Workshop’ with Dr Vicknesha Santhirasegaram on June 19 saw the scholars having fun with three experiments using everyday household items.
Four competitions saw the GOTS International School ‘family’ vote for their favourites – Talentime (primary and secondary), Catwalk Competition (pre-school), Father and Child Look-Alike and Hoodie Design Competition.
“As you can see, we kept our scholars and their families busy during the month-long break,” said Shepherdson.
“I hope everyone enjoyed themselves, and having seen the videos, I am sure they did!”
