Distance Not A Problem

Distance not a problem if you get the right school

Catherina Maria Soosa and Maniselvan Thirumalai have gone the ‘distance’ to find a school for their daughter Gayanthika. While there are a few international schools near their home in Saujana Subang, they have opted to brave the traffic to send her to Global Oak Tree Schools (GOTS) in the City of Elmina Campus, Shah Alam.

“We found out about GOTS through Facebook but we were not sure if we wanted to travel all the way to Shah Alam,” says Catherine.

“We also attended a private international school fair last year and from there, visited several schools.

“But after visiting GOTS, we fell in love with the building and its surroundings.

“The fee is affordable and there are many extra activities which we don’t have to pay for.”

Catherine says after speaking to the coaches at GOTS and having Gayanthika take a placement test, the family signed her up.

“We have no regrets. She has grown so much since joining GOTS.”

Their perseverance in picking the right school has paid off as Gayanthika was recently named GOTS Student of the Month for April.

“I really like studying here. I have so much fun and enjoy my art and craft lessons,” says six-year-old Gayanthika.

“I also enjoy the hip-hop dancing and wish the school hours (which end at 4pm) were longer!”

Catherine and Maniselvan concur.

“On the plus side, we don’t have to worry about homework as everything is taken care of in the school. So when we get home, we can spend quality time together.”

Gayanthika adds: “Kindergarten was so boring but I’m never bored in GOTS. I’m so happy to win this award and will try harder in my studies.”
