Love-ly family time at Global Oak Tree Scholars

Global Oak Tree Scholars (GOTS) co-founder Veronica Shepherdson believes Valentine’s Day is not just for lovers, but for the whole family.

This is why a special Valentine’s Day celebration at the school’s City of Elmina Campus, Shah Alam, will be organised next month.

“The event wil be the start of our Weekend at the Heart of GOTS programme which will be held throughout the year.

“We hope the activities we have lined up will help us to engage with those living near and around our school,” said Shepherdson, adding that there is no fee for the event.

“We have been around since 2018 and Elmina and the surrounding residential areas are growing. We want to reach out to the residents and give them something to do on weekends.

Shepherdson added Weekend at the Heart of GOTS is about promoting filial piety, sense of togetherness and being a family – core values of the international school.

Weekend at the Heart of GOTS is an option for families who want to do things together on a weekend.

“We need more love and a sense of belonging in our lives and I believe families who participate in activities together will have a closer bond.

“Instead of spending time in a mall, they could come to us and do amazing stuff such as learn how to play the Taiko drums or arts and crafts.

“This is our part of community service for those living near the school as they are part of our family too.”
