Football Fantasy League for GOTS secondary scholars
Football is one of the world’s most popular sports, and the English Premier League is the most-watched in the world.
With this in mind, Global Oak Tree Scholars (GOTS) International School’s physical education coach, Mohd Ruszaiman Mohd Idrus, introduced a Football Fantasy League for secondary scholars.
“The boys are excited to play the fantasy league as they are huge football fans.
“I asked the school for permission to start the competition and for us to award prizes to the winners,” said Ruszaiman, who holds a D Coaching Licence from the Football Association of Malaysia, as well as other athletics, fitness and sports management certificates.
“I’m grateful the co-founder (Dr Veronica Shepherdson) agreed as it is also a fun way to bond with the scholars.
“And, with them stuck at home due to Covid-19, it is also a great way to pass their time.”
He said participants could only choose 15 players for their teams – two goalkeepers, five defenders, five midfielders and three forwards.
Changes to the squad are allowed until 90 minutes before the first match of the weekend.
“There are three prizes up for grabs. First place will win a football jersey, the runner-up gets a pair of goalkeeping gloves, while the third-place finishers will win an Adidas football,” said Ruszaiman.
