02 Oct GOTS Activities
A field to call their own
There is nothing like the outdoors for physical activities.
That is why Global Oak Tree Scholars (GOTS) Secondary is thrilled to have its boot camp (Monday), Frisbee (Wednesday) and futsal classes (Friday) at the Sime Darby FC field in Bukit Jelutong.
Previously, all activities were held at the international school’s indoor sports arena.
The other physical activities such as table tennis, taekwondo and basketball will still be indoors.
“We are happy to finally get a field for these three activities. It is better for the scholars too,” said co-founder Veronica Shepherdson.
“We have strict SOPs (standard operating procedures) in school because of Covid-19 to ensure there are no mass gatherings.
“It is good for them to be out in the open with fresh air and plenty of space to run around.”
The physical activity classes are structured with age and ability-appropriate drills with the goal of increasing fitness levels.
The classes also help children develop strong muscles and bones, improve hand-eye coordination, reduce the chances of being overweight, lower risk of diabetes, and gain awareness about body fat and lower blood pressure.
These programmes also encourage kids to break out of their shells to have fun with their friends.
