GOTS is music to Siew Siew’s ears

Myo Sett Kyaw loves music and has found Global Oak Tree Scholars (GOTS) to be the perfect place to enhance his skills.

But while his music skills have been flourishing, Myo Sett has not neglected his studies and won GOTS’ Outstanding Academic Performance for the Year in 2018.

This unique blend of academics and performing arts convinced Siew Siew Kim she made the right choice to enrol Myo Sett in GOTS.

“A friend of mine recommended GOTS,” said Siew Siew.

“She told me it was a nice closed-knit school with teachers or coaches as they are called here, giving constant attention to the kids.

“How right she was. Myo Sett has developed great rapport not just with his classmates but also the coaches.

“In his previous school, he hardly talked about his day but now, he is always telling his father and me what he does each day.”

Siew Siew said Myo Sett is very fond of his music teacher Sheena Moorthy.

“He can connect with her. I guess it’s because he loves music so much,” said Siew Siew of her son, who plays the piano well.

“But it’s not just her. I feel like I know all the coaches in the school as he is always talking about them. I find that refreshing.”

She added Myo Sett’s favourite subject is SHINE – the first experiential Emotional Intelligence (EQ) focused training framework in Southeast Asia.

Another favourite is Funky Munky which comprises speech and drama, taekwondo, ballet, Taiko Drums and hip-hop dance.

“He also enjoys the opportunity to play sports like table tennis and especially football.

“Being a close-knit school, he has more chances to mingle with all the scholars, regardless of their race or gender.

“GOTS has the perfect blend of academics, arts and sports and I’m glad my son is studying here.”
