Little Garden

Always looking at the bright side is what makes Global Oak Tree Scholars (GOTS) International School different.

That is why despite Covid-19 ruining the school year, we can still see many positives.

One such example is our little edible garden at our City of Elmina Campus, Shah Alam.

The project started just a few months ago and it has already started to bear fruit.

Recently, Head of Pre-primary Chithra Nair sent out a letter to the parents to update them about the progress of the edible garden.

“We planted a variety of vegetables and some of them have started to mature,” said Chithra.

“That is why we decided to send letters and some photographs to the parents to share with their children.

“I truly wish our kids were here to witness this themselves. For now, I hope the pictures will motivate and encourage them to keep being the Earth Warriors they have pledged to be.”

She added it was wonderful to see nature carrying on doing what it normally does.

Since the reintroduction of the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya on Oct 14, Chithra and several others have taken turns to visit the garden.

“Most of the time, our security guard helps to take care of it. I wish we could go back to school but it doesn’t look likely soon due to Covid-19.”

She added she was impressed by a documentary called ‘Kiss the Ground’ which teaches how you can reverse the damage done to the planet.

“It is very inspiring and relatable to what we are doing.

“It shows how important soil is and how if we work together we can quickly heal Earth,” said Chithra.

“What I like about this documentary is that it gives solutions on how to solve the problems.

“It doesn’t just blame anyone and tells you what the problems are. Giving solutions is a lot better than pointing fingers.”
