Earth Warriors on a mission to save the planet
Global Oak Tree Scholars (GOTS) International School’s ‘Earth Warriors’ celebrated Earth Day last week.
Pre-primary scholars began their day last Thursday with a yoga session under the guidance of coach Marissa Juanita Hendroff.
They then joined their older schoolmates in planting sunflower seeds and watering their garden.
The pre-schoolers then walked from classroom to classroom while carrying a banner with the words “Save the Earth” before singing a special ‘Earth song’ at the entrance.
Sung to the tune of ‘The ants go marching on’ which originally appeared on Barney’s Campfire Sing-along in 1990, the number traces its roots to the American Civil War.
The young ones then handed a packet of coriander seeds and soil to primary scholars in every classroom.
Their day ended with Head of Pre-Primary Chithra Nair teaching them to bake ‘Earth Cupcakes’.
Secondary scholars were presented with a flower pot which they decorated before planting chilli seeds.
They are tasked to look after their ‘babies’ and report on its progress in July.
