New journey for pre-primary and primary scholars
Tristan Lim was among the first to enrol in Global Oak Tree Scholars (GOTS) last year which has since grown to nearly 100 students.
But after two years in primary school, Tristan will start a new journey at GOTS secondary when he enters Year 7 in 2020.
He is one of four scholars who will move to GOTS’ secondary campus at Plaza Jelutong, in Bukit Jelutong, Shah Alam. The others are Mohamad Ashraf Azim Mohamed Hasmizal, Muhamad Kayden Muhamad Zairulnizam and Adiel Amran Ali Azman.
Speaking at GOTS’ first graduation ceremony last Friday, which also featured eight pre-primary scholars who are moving into Year 1, Tristan said: “I’m sad to leave the primary campus in Elmina East but happy to start at Bukit Jelutong.
“The good thing is I will still get to see many of the coaches. I have made some good friends in Elmina and now it’s time to grow.
“I’m grateful to all the teachers who have made me what I am today and also to my parents for their love and patience.”
Adiel Amran, who has only been at the school for seven months, said it felt like home but is looking forward to moving to Bukit Jelutong to join his elder brother, Mikhail Imran.
“I may only have been here for a short while but it has been the best seven months of my life as I have learnt so much,” he said.
“I have never had teachers like these and I doubt I will find such dedicated ones in any other school.”
Ashraf and Kayden, who joined GOTS around the same time last year, admitted it would be tough leaving their friends behind but were already familiar with their older schoolmates.
“Primary was the best and my classmates were always there for me. Now it is time to make new memories with my new friends and amazing teachers,” said Ashraf.
“I will miss Keshhav (Parthiban) who will not join us next year as he still has a year to go in primary. I would also like to thank my teachers – all of them are the best teachers in the world.”
Kayden admitted he wouldn’t have made it past Year 6 if it was not for his class teacher S. Dharshini, whom he called “the best teacher, his problem solver and his wise advisor”.
“Every single teacher has been amazing. To my friends in primary, sooner or later, we will meet again.”
The Year 6 scholars also presented GOTS co-founder Veronica Shepherdson with a memento.
The graduation ceremony also featured song and dance performances by the other primary scholars.
“I’m so happy to see the bond of friendship which has developed not between the teachers and scholars but also with the parents,” Shepherdson said.
All the pre-primary students and their families left the ceremony to watch Frozen 2 together after the graduation.
The eight pre-primary scholars who graduated are Ana Safeeya Syahrul Hizan, Dahlia Caryna Hazlan, Lisbeth Eirene Boinsin, Chang Jun Hong, Jayden Yong, Lakshyan Avaneesh, Ryan Roshan Lim and Syed Wildan Syed Mukhrim.
