Scholars not losing out, thanks to GOTS International School’s online lessons
Switching to online lessons is not easy, especially for younger children, but it has been well-received by those in Global Oak Tree Scholars (GOTS) International School.
Mark T. Mathan, whose daughter Darsnika is in Year 3, said while she misses physical classes, she has adjusted to the online method.
“She simply loves the school and I have seen her blossom during her time in GOTS,” said Mathan.
“The way the coaching is done, and the type of lessons – academics, life skills and the arts – certainly lives up to the school’s tagline of being ‘Definitely Different’.
“It is similar to the online lessons. My wife, who helps my daughter, says she finds the classes interesting.”
Committed to giving the scholars the best education, GOTS International School conducts a full day of online lessons each weekday – from 8.30am till 2.15pm for those in Year 1 until Year 9. That is followed by tutorial classes until 3.30pm.
For those in Year 10, lessons are from 8.30am-3.30pm.
The online timetable includes subjects such as music, arts and information and communications technology (ICT) and physical education to ensure well-rounded scholars.
Financial Smart – the school’s financial literacy programme – is also taught.
“It is not just about academics. The school makes sure everything is included.
“My daughter is artistic. She likes music and the performing arts. These subjects are not neglected,” said Mathan.
“While I would love for her to return to physical classes, I am confident she is not losing out because of the way GOTS conducts its online lessons.”
Mathan also said GOTS International School’s music teacher Nasirah Nur Ibrahim has been a big influence on Darsnika.
Nasirah is an accomplished violinist and took Darsnika under her wings when school was allowed to open earlier this year.
“Nasirah, like all the other coaches at the school, always goes the extra mile to help. Be it for schoolwork or for extracurricular activities. I think the family atmosphere is what sets the school apart.”
