Philosophy of GOTS

Philosophy of GOTS

GOTS, the international school that feels just like home

Treat everyone like family and they will make the school home.

That is the philosophy of Global Oak Tree Scholars (GOTS) with two campuses in Shah Alam – City of Elmina and Bukit Jelutong.

The ‘homely’ feel you get as you pass through our gates is because of the love the coaches and scholars have for the school.

“Among our values are to treat staff like family, be respectful and to be honest,” said co-founder Veronica Shepherdson.

“That is how we have managed to keep nearly all our coaches together after nearly three years.

“Even the ones who left as they had other paths to follow, have kept in touch.”

She said these values are passed on to the scholars.

Coaches must have compassion, integrity, kindness and sensitivity, show unconditional love, and always be fair and positive.

“My favourite saying is ‘there is no failure, only feedback’ and this is a mantra we repeat often.

“We coach scholars to overcome any obstacles and give them ways to find a solution,” said Shepherdson.

Scholars are also consistently reminded they must practise filial piety as family values are important to GOTS.

“We may be a school, but GOTS is truly a home away from home.”
