Right time, right place for GOTS International School’s move to new campus.
Global Oak Tree Scholars (GOTS) International School is moving from its City of Elmina Campus, in June.
The Shah Alam-based international school had been operating its pre-primary and primary campus at the City of Elmina since 2018. But with the number of students rapidly growing, it needed to find a bigger location.
“We scouted for several alternatives, including Elmina,” said co-founder Dr Veronica Shepherdson.
“We would have had to move by next year, as we are at near-capacity. I do not want to put students on a waiting list, but that would have happened, had we stayed on at the City of Elmina.
“If we cannot grow our pre-primary and primary school, it will be difficult to expand our secondary campus.”
She said the school was recently offered a suitable site close to Elmina, and accepted.
“It is heart-breaking to leave our ‘home’, but to accommodate the school’s rapid growth, we have to,” said Dr Shepherdson.
“It made good business sense to take up the offer as we would only have to do minor renovations, instead of starting from scratch.”
Dr Shepherdson recently took some parents on a tour of the new facility. She also told them that the school would arrange for transport for scholars who lived in Elmina.
“We will subsidise the transportation fees. Three of our staff will also travel with the children from Elmina to the new school,” said Dr Shepherdson.
“I explained to the parents that the new venue is for the long-term.”
She kept the best news for last, and revealed that the school would build a swimming pool for the scholars. It is also negotiating to get a piece of land to start a garden.
