Thank You Nur Ashikin

It is with a heavy heart that Nur Ashikin Mohamed Hariri is leaving Global Oak Tree Scholars (GOTS) International School.

Nur Ashikin was among the pioneer batch of coaches when the school opened in January 2018 and has had an even longer relationship with co-founder Veronica Shepherdson.

“We have worked with each other for a long time. Too long to remember,” said Nur Ashikin, who was GOTS International School’s Bahasa Melayu and Agama coach.

“I’m sad to be leaving my position, but it’s due to personal reasons. I will look back with fondness all the great times I have had in school.

“To the coaches, staff and scholars, thank you for being such a wonderful family.”

GOTS International School organised a virtual farewell for Nur Ashikin last Friday, during which Shepherdson, the coaches and staff wished her well and dedicated the song ‘Thank you for being a friend’ to her.

“Nur Ashikin is a friend, a counsellor, a mentor, a guide, and an educator, not just to the scholars, but to the coaches and me as well,” said Shepherdson.

“I am grateful to her for her steadfast commitment to teaching with passion and those at GOTS International School, and would like to honour her for being such a wonderful person.

“She has given us her love and we could not ask for more. I would like to honour you for the wonderful person that you are, and will always be.”

Shepherdson added Nur Ashikin’s patience and kindness made her classroom a safe place.

“Her caring smile encouraged our learners to keep trying. She is what every teacher should be.”

She added that GOTS International School’s doors are always open, and that Nur Ashikin is welcomed back any time.

“We love you Nur Ashikin. Stay safe and take care.”
