The Right Note

The Right Note

Alesia hits the right note
If you are a follower of the local entertainment industry you probably would have come across the name Alesia Dhana.
This 24-year-old Ipoh lass has been involved in the arts ever since she was 11 and has carved quite a name for herself in the local scene.
She graduated from The Urdang Academy in London with a national diploma in Musical Theatre and a degree in Musical Theatre from Guildford School of Acting at the University of Surrey.
An actress, singer, model and educator, Alesia will also coach speech and drama at Global Oak Tree Scholars as part of the international school’s (secondary) Chill Out classes.
“I like teaching or coaching speech and drama as I love to help children of all ages express themselves,” says Alesia, who also conducts classes at the famous Enfiniti Academy, which was established by award-winning actress Puan Sri Tiara Jacquelina with its course director Joanna Bessey.
“As you know, speech and drama is one class where your imagination can run wild.
“I love to help the students discover themselves. Teach them to be creative and think fast on their feet as sometimes I throw them different scenarios at the drop of a hat just to see how they react.”
She says speech and drama classes can increase a person’s self-confidence, give them the ability to empathise and improve their interpersonal skills.
“A child will learn faster if he or she does other activities besides reading a book.
“Speech, drama and music are wonderful teachers. Once you have the self-confidence to perform in front of an audience, you have got it made.
“This is something I try to instil in all my students.”
Keeping students on their toes and eager to learn is a hallmark of GOTS and hence why Alesia will be working her magic there.
