15 Apr Uniform – Stepping Out in Style
GOTS girls step out in style
Global Oak Tree Scholars (GOTS) International School recently held a ‘fashion show’ for its female students to model its new uniform.
Co-founder Veronica Shepherdson helped to design the culottes, which were paired with lilac T-shirts for the girls.
Culottes have a flat panel on the inside of the leg, similar to pleating, which when combined with the volume, creates the appearance of a skirt.
Culottes can be flattering on any body type and are suitable for warm weather like Malaysia’s. It is also easy to dress up or down according to the occasion.
“The material for the culottes is imported as I wanted the scholars to be comfortable,” said Shepherdson.
“Moving forward, we have also decided to stick to lilac for the T-shirts.”
The school currently has four coloured T-shirts – lilac, green, blue and yellow. They will be slowly phased out.
The boys wear grey slacks, but new intakes will start wearing black slacks.
Shepherdson also played hairstylist for the day while the school’s coaches helped with the make-up.
Scholar Cathryn Ann Dewa Balan, who was at first nervous about the catwalk but managed to go through with it, said: “I am not used to being in the spotlight. I like the new uniform as it is comfortable”.
Scholar Riyaa Reuban, who was busy taking pictures of her friends sashaying down the catwalk, also said she loved the new school uniform.
“They are quite stylish and the colours are really sweet,” said Riyaa.
