VAK Learning Styles

New GOTS online programme offers VAK learning styles

Global Oak Tree Scholars (GOTS) International School is famed for its unique approach to coaching which caters to all learning spectrums.

A child can learn from one of three ways – seeing, listening and doing. This is also called VAK – visual, auditory and kinesthetic – and all GOTS lessons incorporate these three elements.

At GOTS International School, we cater to all three learning spectrums to ensure no scholar is left behind. This also teaches them to be flexible under any condition.

Our newly introduced online programme for Year 2 to Year 9 students will also incorporate VAK techniques.

Visual learners need pictures, graphs and videos to understand a lesson. Auditory learners need to hear the information while kinesthetic learners process information better by doing activities.

Our coaches use interactive tools and gadgets to ensure no matter which dominant learning style your child belongs to, he or she won’t be left out.

A typical lesson at GOTS would see a coach begin with an ice-breaker which is either a review of the previous day’s lesson or a preview of the day’s class.

It could be in the form of quizzes, games or songs. This helps to stimulate the scholars’ brains as each ice-breaker caters to visual, audio and kinesthetic learners.

All lessons would also include educational videos and games are part of our teaching methods.

Besides the traditional way of teaching whereby teachers read from textbooks, scholars would also be given tasks.

For example, if they are learning the history of Egypt, they would have to build their own miniature pyramids or chariots.

The online programme will have six compulsory subjects – English, Maths, Science, Geography, History and Bahasa Melayu. For Year 2 scholars, History will be replaced by Phonics.

Classes are from 8.15am until 1pm on weekdays.

“Although our online programme offers six subjects, we will not compromise on the quality of our education,” said GOTS International School co-founder Veronica Shepherdson.

“The methodology of teaching and how we communicate with our scholars will be the same albeit online instead of in a physical classroom.”

To make it affordable, parents pay a monthly fee of only RM1,080 for 10 months. There are no charges during the school’s term breaks in June and December.

The intake for GOTS’ new online programme is now open.
